US to launch int'l program against Yemeni operations in Red Sea
The resistance in Yemen has been in recent weeks conducting a series of operations targeting US, Israeli and British ships in the Red Sea due to their complicity in the Gaza genocide.
The War Zone website reported on Sunday, citing a Pentagon official who requested anonymity, that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, during his upcoming trip to the Middle East next week, is set to unveil an international initiative called Prosperity Guardian.
The purpose of this program is to safeguard ships in the Red Sea from potential operations carried out by the Yemeni resistance following recent attacks on vessels from the US and UK.
The Pentagon official did not provide details on the specific countries participating in the operation or the nature of their assigned missions but he did mention that their activities would include patrolling the Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandab Strait, and Gulf of Aden.
Earlier on Sunday, the White House announced that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin would head the US presidential delegation to Kuwait to express condolences following the passing of Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
A few days prior, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder had stated that Austin would soon travel to the Middle East for meetings with the leaders of Bahrain, Qatar, and "Israel."
