US to send aid to Ukraine, military activities may slow down: Kirby
It is expected by the US to maintain operations in Ukraine even during the winter time but a few certain activities will be put on hold.
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby confirmed on Wednesday the US' 'challenging' plans to provide aid to Ukraine in light of the coming winter time.
During a press briefing, Kirby stated: "We are working with other allies and partners in the region to again help provide transformers and electrical equipment, technical assistance, and the light so that we can try to help Ukraine keep as many lights on through the winter, as much heat on through the winter as possible, but it will be a challenge because we don't think that the Russians are gonna stop."
However, in regards to military activity, it is expected by the US to maintain operations and continue in Ukraine even during the winter time but a few certain activities will be put on hold due to the weather.
"We absolutely believe that military operations will persist through the winter months, it's just going to be probably... some things will be curtailed or altered based on the weather conditions," Kirby continued.
On a separate note, the US has not received any clear explanation as to why Russia postponed the talks on the New START Treaty that were scheduled to take place in Cairo from November 29 to December 6, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said on Monday.
"We haven't received a real solid answer from the Russians as to why they postpone this," Kirby told a briefing, adding that the US will be working through its Embassy in Moscow to know why Russia has postponed the talks.
