Voters unhappy with the state of the nation: Exit polls
Over half of US voters disapprove of President Joe Biden’s performance, according to a CNN exit poll.
This year's midterm voterts are unhappy with the state of the nation, while holding negative views of US President Joe Biden, according to the preliminary national results of the exit poll conducted for news networks by Edison Research.
More than 7 in 10 people indicated they were not happy with the way things are going in the nation, and almost a third said they were not just unhappy but angry about it.
Nearly equal to then-Donald Trump's 45% popularity rating among 2018 midterm voters, Biden's approval rating among voters in this year's election is at 45%. And voters in this election were more than twice as likely to strongly disapprove of Biden as they were to strongly approve of him.
Almost half of the voters said that Biden's policies are affecting the country, with around 36% saying his policies are mostly helping, and the rest are making no difference.
Nearly half of voters indicated that Biden did not influence their choice, while 18% said that their vote was to show support for Biden and approximately one-third said that it was to show opposition to him. Many voters did not perceive their congressional vote as a reflection on the president.
