Washington Imposes New Sanctions on Iranian, Yemeni Individuals
This comes a day after senior officials in the US and members of the GCC held a meeting within the framework of the "Iran Working Group."
The US Treasury announced Thursday that it has imposed sanctions on six Iranian individuals and one Iranian entity for their attempt to "influence the 2020 US Presidential Election”, according to the ministry.
This comes a day after senior officials in the United States and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held a meeting at the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh, within the framework of the "Iran Working Group", which was established during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the US and the GCC countries on 23 last September in New York.
The US Treasury added that it is sanctioning Saleh Mesfer al-Shaer who allegedly leads an organization for military logistical support controlled by Ansar Allah.
"Al-Shaer oversaw the seizure of dozens of companies affiliated with anti-Houthi figures residing abroad, with assets valued at more than 100 million dollars," the ministry said in a statement.
The US Treasury had previously imposed sanctions on two military leaders in the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement in March.
Meanwhile, the US continues its military support for the Saudi-led coalition as it targets Yemeni civilians, homes, schools, and other areas with no regard for fundamental principles of international human rights.
