Watson incites against Al Mayadeen for covering pro-Palestine protests
A Swiss outlet is inciting against Al Mayadeen for covering the student intifada at Université de Lausanne.
The Swiss Watson news website published an article inciting against Al Mayadeen Network for "embarrassing" Université de Lausanne (UNIL).
The director of Al Mayadeen's office in Geneva, Moussa Assi, has been leading our coverage of student protests erupting in multiple universities across Europe. Students are calling for their universities to divest from the Israeli occupation, as they protest for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip following months of the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people.
Assi said that attempts to incite against Al Mayadeen are due to the network's support of the Palestinian cause, stressing that the article is a "cheap" attempt to pressure the network.
He pointed to the disparity between the outlet's rhetoric and the fact that Al Mayadeen was covering students protesting in support of Gaza against the Israeli aggression, while other outlets such as Watson were not present at the university. Assi explained that demonstrators were not welcoming of such outlets that "sought to parrot the Israeli narrative and accuse [protestors] of anti-Semitism."
Assi reiterated that Al Mayadeen will continue to cover the student protests and their intifada, calling on Watson to initiate its own coverage of the events. He further pointed out that UNIL students have said they "do not care" about what Watson publishes.
