West failed to reverse course of history, isolate Russia: Lavrov
Russia's top diplomat says 85% of the world’s population is hesitant to save the West from its difficult position.
The United States and its allies' efforts to force the international community to adopt their version of the rule-based world order has failed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an online speech to the Global Conference on Multipolarity on Saturday.
"It seems only natural that efforts by Washington and its satellites to reverse the course of history and force the international community to live up to a ‘rules-based world order’ have failed. I will only mention the completely failed course toward isolating Russia that the Westerners have been pursuing," he told the attendees.

"The majority of countries inhabited by some 85% of the world’s population are reluctant to pull the chestnuts out of the fire for former colonial powers," he added.
The conference, according to Lavrov, will play a vital role in heeding politicians, public figures, journalists, and academic and cultural personnel from around the world, who aspire for multipolarity and fairer and sovereign inter-state relations.

"African states are constantly increasing their role in world affairs. More and more confidently declare their position in politics and economics. We are convinced that Africa will become one of the leaders of the emerging multipolar world order," he said then.
Last February, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a visit to Russia that China remains committed along with Russia to maintaining a positive trend in developing relations among the global powers, and together, both countries stand determined to move firmly toward establishing a multipolar world order.
"Despite the volatility of the international situation, China and Russia always maintain strategic determination, firmly and confidently move in line with the formation of a multipolar world," Wang added during his meeting with Lavrov.
