Head of the Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB), Lt. Gen. Ivan Tertel, told the Belarus 1 TV channel that security services belonging to a foreign country trained a group of around 300 militants in Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania to seize a regional center of Belarus as the first stage of longer aggression on the country.

Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anatoly Lappo said Sunday that Ukrainian forces have destroyed nearly all bridges and mined the roads along the Belarus border. "Today, almost all border bridges have been blown up, and automobile and railway border routes are completely mined,” Lappo said as quoted by Belarusian TV.

Lt. General Tertel stated that "an armed seizure of a regional center on the territory of Belarus as a springboard for further development of the offensive operation - for this, foreign security services have trained from 100 to 300 militants on the territory of Ukraine."

The head of KGB in Belarus added that the West believes, according to inside information obtained from Western military-political circles, that they must not lose, "therefore, the possibility of using tactical nuclear weapons or using those groups that are created for direct aggression against our country and against our allies is being discussed."

On the other hand, Belta news agency reported on Wednesday that the chairman of the KGB stated during a briefing regarding current military developments in Belarus that the war in Ukraine may come to a turning point between November 2022 and February 2023.

"If the Russian Federation conducts a quality mobilization campaign, provides its group with technical means and advanced weapons, then the military operation will enter a key phase. According to our estimates, a turning point will come in the period from November of this year to February of next year,” he said.

Earlier on Monday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko warned during a security meeting against plans discussed in Kiev to carry out strikes against his country, announcing that he has ordered Belarusian troops to deploy on the Ukrainian borders.

"Strikes on the territory of Belarus are not just being discussed in Ukraine today, but are also being planned," the President said, adding that Belarus is being pushed by the parties planning the strikes to join the war and warning that "we have been preparing for this for decades. If necessary, we will respond."

"My answer was simple: 'Tell the president of Ukraine and the other lunatics: if they touch one metre of our territory then the Crimean Bridge will seem to them like a walk in the park,'" Lukashenko stated.

It's noteworthy that following the attack that targeted the Crimean bridge, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko agreed on the deployment of a joint regional group of forces in light of recent developments in Ukraine.

Official sources from Minsk said, "In connection with the aggravation of the situation on the western borders of the Union State, we agreed to deploy a regional grouping of forces from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. This complies with our documents. They say that if the threat reaches the level it has now, we begin to use the Union State grouping of forces".

Russia and Belarus are members of the Union State, a supranational organization formed in the 1990s with the objective of integrating both nations' political, economic, and defense policies. Its military doctrine declares that any aggression against either member is aggression against both, which would call for "appropriate measures" to be taken "using all the forces and means" at the countries' disposal to neutralize the threat.
