WH Secretary: Biden to travel to Asia, North Africa for summits
VP Harris is also expected to travel separately to Asia to attend the APEC meeting in Bangkok.
White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that US President Joe Biden will travel to Egypt, Cambodia, and Indonesia to attend a series of global dialogues starting November 11.
In Friday's statement, Jean-Pierre said: "President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will visit Egypt, Cambodia, and Indonesia. On November 11th, President Biden will attend the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt,"
The statement added that following the COP27 conference, Biden will go on to visit Phnom Penh in Cambodia, from November 12-13, to take part in the US-ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit. After that is the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Bali, Indonesia from November 13-16 which Biden will participate in as well.
On Biden's agenda, per the White House statement, a wide range of global concerns that will be raised during the summits, which include the climate crisis, the war in Ukraine, and food security.
Vice President Kamala Harris was also confirmed to be traveling to Bangkok to attend the November 18-19 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders meeting, reiterating US' commitment to economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
Manila in the Phillippines is another location Harris will be visiting, to meet with government leaders and civil society representatives.
