WSJ: Biden to sanction more than 300 Russian lawmakers
The Biden administration is preparing to impose sanctions on more than 300 members of Russia's Parliament during Biden's visit to Europe.
According to The Wall Street Journal, US President Joe Biden's administration is preparing to impose sanctions on most members of the Russian Duma as part of an attempt to further punish Moscow for its military operation in Ukraine.
US officials were quoted by the journal as saying that Biden intends to announce the sanctions on more than 300 members of the State Duma as soon as Thursday during his scheduled trip to Europe.
US officials said sanctions would be announced in coordination with the European Union and members of the G7.
Sanctions have so far failed to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the Russian military operation in Ukraine and have ranged from everything from Russian billionaires to Russian dishes.
The West has been on a massive propaganda campaign, including banning Russian-owned cats from competing in FIfe, a Paris-based organization that creates over 700 events a year where over 200,000 cats are shown.
Both NATO and the United States have mounted a massive propaganda campaign to make Russia the enemy in the eyes of the West, American activist Phil Wilayto told Sputnik.
The next package of sanctions, targeting 400 individuals, including 328 Russian lawmakers and elites, comes in the fourth week of the Russian operation in Ukraine.
Sanctions were imposed on Putin himself last month, as well as on a number of senior officials in his government.
