Xi calls for lifting of unilateral sanctions at G20: Reports
As the world faces a food crisis, Chinese President Xi Jinping urges major world economies to resist politicizing and weaponizing food.
Addressing the G20 summit in Bali, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged major world economies at the meeting to resist politicizing and weaponizing food and energy commerce and to abolish unilateral prohibitions on research and technology cooperation, as per China Central Television (CCTV).
Xi added: “It is vital to oppose politicizing and weaponizing food and energy issues deliberately. It is vital to lift unilateral sanctions and cancel restrictions in relevant research and technology cooperation spheres”.
The Chinese leader believes that international collaboration on market monitoring, as well as the construction of an open and sustainable commodity market, may solve the challenges by combining efforts to stabilize prices and supply chains.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Xi stressed that it was critical to ensure that the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy does not harm the economy or people's living conditions.
It is also worth noting that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping argued over Taiwan on Monday, but they also found areas of agreement during their first in-person meeting in three years.
