Yemen to criminalize normalization with “Israel”
Yemeni officials from the National Salvation Government affirm that the move is in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.
Yemen's National Salvation Government (NSG) has moved to introduce legislation that would criminalize all attempts to normalize relations with “Israel”.
Yemeni Prime Minister Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, according to Al-Masirah TV, is in the process of passing legislation prohibiting any form of contact with “Israel”.
“We stand by the side of the Palestinian nation and their struggle in the face of Israeli threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupied Al-Quds city,” Habtoor said.
He went on to say that “Israel's” provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque are an attempt to "illustrate their dominance" in the aftermath of their numerous normalization deals with other Arab states.
The news that Yemen will criminalize normalization comes just a week after the Iraqi parliament unanimously approved a bill criminalizing any form of normalization or dealings with “Israel”, with all 275 members of parliament voting in favor of the law.
A week earlier, on May 17, Algerian lawmakers made a similar request to their parliament, seeking to criminalize the normalization of relations with “Israel”, including the prohibition of travel or direct contact with “Tel Aviv”.
The document is still being revised by the Algerian parliament's first chamber and the National People's Assembly's Parliamentary Initiatives Office.
Despite the brutal Saudi-led aggression on Yemen, Sanaa never failed to stand in solidarity with Palestine in light of the recent wave of normalization in the Middle East, which resulted in gruesome shifts in regional dynamics and balances most notably regarding the Palestinian cause.
