Yemeni forces advance to Marib after securing eastern al-Balaq mountains: sources
Local Yemeni sources reported to Al Mayadeen that the Yemeni army and popular committees have liberated the eastern al-Balaq mountain range and are advancing toward Marib.
The Yemeni army and popular committees have secured the eastern al-Balaq mountain range while continuing to advance on the southern and eastern fronts of Marib, local sources told Al Mayadeen.
"Hadi's forces and the al-Islah Party are suffering continuous tactical defeats, despite the intensive air support from the Saudi-led coalition," Al Mayadeen's sources reported.
Sources had previously told Al Mayadeen "the al-Balaq eastern mountain range, which overlooks the Yemeni city of Marib, has been liberated."
"A few days stand between the complete liberation of Marib by the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees. The Yemeni military leadership is giving those who haven't yet surrendered the last chance to put their affairs in order," the sources reported then.
In late October, the Minister of Defense in the Sanaa government, Major General Muhammad al-Atifi indicated that most of the districts of the Marib Governorate have been secured by the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees, emphasizing that "the reclaiming of Marib is inevitable."
