Zelensky sad over Johnson's resignation
The Ukrainian president called to express his feelings about Johnson's resignation following a sex scandal at Downing Street.
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky phoned British President Boris Johnson to express his "sadness" over his resignation, Kiev revealed.
"We all welcome this news with sadness. Not only me, but also all of Ukrainian society which sympathises with you a lot," the presidency quoted Zelensky as saying, reiterating how grateful Ukrainians were for the British prime minister's support since the Russian invasion.
Johnson has been one of the biggest supporters of the war in Ukraine, sending weapons and training.
"We don't doubt that Great Britain's support will continue, but your personal leadership and your charisma made it special," said Zelensky.
Johnson and Zelensky, furthermore, discussed military and political cooperation and propositions to unblock grain exports from Ukrainian ports.

British PM Boris Johnson resigns as Conservative leader
Today, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stepped down from his post as the leader of the Conservative party, meaning that he would no longer be leading the United Kingdom.
Johnson's resignation came after a three-year-long tenure that was distinguished by the number of scandals it saw, as well as crises such as Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. He was constantly mired in controversies and that saw him revealed as untruthful to the public and even his allies.
The 58-year-old premier announced that he would step down after a tsunami of resignations from his government in protest of his leadership. He will, however, stay as prime minister until a replacement is found. Ministers - even from the Conservative party - have been calling on him to resign, questioning his leadership after his handling of Pincher's sex scandal.
