China won three gold medals and a bronze medal on the first day of the Tokyo Olympics.
China's Yang Qian won the first gold medal out of 339 in the 2020 Olympics.
Qian became the first gold medal winner of the Tokyo Games when she won the 10m air rifle final, where she achieved a very close win after taking the lead from the Russian competing under a neutral flag, Anastasiia Galashina.
China's other two gold medals were Zhihui Hou's, who won the gold medal in women's 49-kg weightlifting, and Sun Yiwen's, who won the gold medal in the women's épée, putting China in the lead with four medals in total.
