Al-Quds' Golden Medal shines in Beirut: Supporting athletes against normalization
The "International Congress to Honor Athletes Against Normalization" is organized by the International Campaign to Return to Palestine, where athletes who opposed normalization by competing against Israelis in matches were honored.
The Al-Quds' Golden Medal is the most precious medal athletes with honor can aspire to, as this golden medal surpasses all others in importance, because it derives its honor from Al-Quds.
Though our athletes may win championships, the most important win is when these athletes win for Palestine and Al-Quds against the Israeli regime by refusing normalization. They win for Palestine and Al-Quds by sacrificing championship medals by refusing to play against Israeli athletes. They win for Palestine and al-Quds when these two are more important to them than winning a match. That is why these athletes truly deserve the al-Quds golden medal.
Fethi Nourine from Algeria, Mohammad Abdel-Rasoul from Sudan, Ali Al-Kenani from Iraq, Mohammad Abdel-Rahim Al-Taleb Mohammad from Mauritania, Mohamad Al-Awadi from Kuwait, Fadi Eid and Malek Al-Zibawi from Lebanon, Ousama Abu Jame' and Mohammad Eid from Jordan, Ali Karimi and Amirhossein Arab from Iran, Maysa Al-Abbasi from Tunisia, the Syrian National Basketball team for boys and girls, and the Syrian Army's team all supported Palestine, and were honored with the Al-Quds Medal yesterday in Beirut.

On Monday, an honor pact for athletes against normalization was announced, whose introductory speech was read by Fethi Nourine who said that this pact emanates from the belief in the righteousness of the Palestinian cause, in honor of the sacrifices of the Palestinian people, the necessity of facing all kinds of normalization, in the preservation of the purity of athletic competition and in order to maintain the true spirit of athleticism.
The General Coordinator of the Global Campaign to Return to Palestine, Sheikh Yousef Abbas, said that the Al-Quds Golden Medal expresses "some of our loyalty towards the athletes being honored today", and told the athletes that they have shown true dedication and loyalty toward Palestine. He also announced that an association has been established to support all athletes that stand against normalization with "Israel".
Those being honored were also taken today on a tour in South Lebanon, on the border with occupied Palestine, where a mural was unveiled depicting the Al-Quds' Golden Medal at the border wall separating Lebanon and occupied Palestine.
