Argentina's Martinez to join Man Utd after a deal with Ajax
Martinez is set to join Manchester United for an initial $57 million, with a further $10 million in performance-based bonuses.
Following an agreement between the English giants, Machester United, and Ajax on Sunday, Argentinian international defender Lisandro Martinez is expected to become Manchester United's third acquisition of the transfer season.
United will pay an initial $57 million, with a further $10 million in performance-based bonuses, according to Ajax.
"Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Argentine international defender Lisandro Martinez, subject to medical, to player terms being finalised, and to UK visa requirements," United said in a statement.
At Old Trafford, Martinez will be reunited with Erik ten Hag, his former boss. Christian Eriksen, a midfielder, and Tyrell Malacia, a left-back, have already been added by Ten Hag to a team that finished a disappointing sixth in the Premier League last season.
Martinez joined Ajax from Defensa y Justicia in his native country, where he won two Eredivisie titles and assisted the Dutch champions in making it all the way to the Champions League's round of 16.
