Barcelona striker Aubameyang held at gunpoint in home robbery
A minimum of 4 men broke into the footballer's home in Castelldefels, near Barcelona, looting belongings from his safe.
Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was a victim of a violent armed robbery that took place at his residence on Monday morning, according to the football club.
"He is ok now, scared but ok," according to a Barcelona source to AFP.
A minimum of 4 men broke into the footballer's home in Castelldefels, near Barcelona, entering through a garden. The robbers threatened Aubameyang and his wife at gunpoint with iron bars, hitting him, according to the El Pais daily.
The thieves drove off after forcing the Gabonian footballer to open a safe, stealing the jewels that it contained, according to the newspaper.
"The investigation remains open and we are gathering information," said a spokeswoman for Catalan police to AFP.
Many top-tier footballers in Spain have been victims of robberies - however, most of the break-ins occur while they'd be playing.
In June, 6 people were arrested by Spanish police after an Ibiza burglary claimed 3 million euros of Brazil's Ronaldo.
