Julyana Al-Sadeq: First Arab woman to top Taekwondo World Ranking
Jordanian Julyana Al-Sadeq becomes the first Jordanian and Arab woman to top World Kyorugi Rankings in Taekwondo in her weight category.
Julyana Al-Sadeq tops World Kyorugi Rankings in Taekwondo for her weight category, making her the first Jordanian and Arab female to hold that title.
The 28-year-old Al-Sadeq increased her points from 303.00 in December 2022 to 400.88 points in 2023 and dethroned French bronze medalist Magda Wiet-Henin, who trailed 18.94 points behind her.
The Taekwondo player ranks first in the World Kyorugi Ranking for the women's -67 kg weight category after having risen 4 places since last year.
In the Olympic Kyorugi Rankings, Al-Sadeq has also risen by 4 places, however, that was not enough. The Jordanian still has work to do as Wiet-Henin remains in a more advanced placement with 395.94 points while Al-Sadeq has 384.88.
In an Instagram post, Al-Sadeq wrote "Praise be to God...my lead to the international ranking as the first Arab woman in the history of taekwondo." Al-Sadeq also thanked both her coach Faris Al-Assaf and the Jordanian Taekwondo Federation for their efforts and continued support.

Al-Sadeq's triumphs
In 2018, Al-Sadeq made one of her most significant career wins, where she landed a gold medal, in her weight category, at the Asian Games that were held in Jakarta.
The distinguished player also claimed gold medals at the Asian Championships, Arab Cup, Grand Prix - Riyadh, WT Presidents Cup - Asian, and the Fujairah Open.
At the Grand Prix final in Riyadh, Al-Sadeq's gold medal made her the first Jordanian woman to win a gold at a Grand Prix series.
In 2022, also, Al-Sadeq won 2nd place at both the Grand Prix - Roma, the Beirut Open as well as the Fajr Open.
