Muhammad Ali's Grandson Wins on Debut
Nico Ali Walsh won his professional debut on Saturday night, then paid tribute to his late grandfather, Muhammad Ali.
On his first professional debut, Nico Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali's grandson, followed the boxing steps of his late grandfather and won his middleweight fight. The fighter knocked down his opponent at 1:49 in the first round.
“Obviously, my grandfather, I’ve been thinking about him so much. I miss him," expressed Walsh, while wearing his grandfather's white trunks with black lining.
After the win, Ali Walsh celebrated with his family in the ring, along with 89-year-old Bob Arum, the same prompter who promoted 27 of Muhammad Ali's fights.
“I’m a believer in genes,” Arum proudly said.
