The Palestinian Football Association announced it has signed an agreement with the Asian Football Confederation to build a field hospital in Gaza, funded by the Confederation to support the healthcare sector in Gaza following the destruction Israeli forces caused to medical facilities and hospitals.
The signing ceremony took place on Monday in Ankara and was attended by Issam Qaddoumi, Secretary-General of the Palestinian Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; Faed Mustafa, the Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara; Badr Aqel, Director of the Medical Department of the Football Association; and representatives from the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
The President of the Palestinian Football Association thanked the Confederation and its President, describing the agreement as a “noble humanitarian gesture that underscores the strong ties between the two federations.”
Gaza's Medical Sector
Gaza's Healthcare sector was severely damaged during the war as "Israel" repeatedly targeted hospitals and prevented the delivery of fuel, food, and medicine to healthcare centers, particularly those located in northern Gaza.
"Israel's" actions were repeatedly condemned by international organizations, which labeled the attacks as a war crime.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on January 8 that only 14 out of 36 hospitals were partially operating in Gaza amid a severe shortage of supplies after Israeli forces took Kamal Adwan, Beit Hanoun, and the Indonesian Hospitals out of service with its attacks.
