PFA praises Norway's call for FIFA probe into Israeli violations
The PFA called on FIFA, UEFA, and national football associations worldwide to fulfill their ethical and legal responsibilities by suspending all sporting ties with "Israel" until it adheres to its international obligations.
The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) welcomed on Tuesday the statement by Lise Klaveness, President of the Norwegian Football Federation calling on FIFA to investigate "Israel's" violations ahead of the World Cup qualifying match between Norway and "Israel."
Klaveness emphasized that Norway's participation in matches against "Israel" transcends the sporting realm, voicing deep concerns over the continued targeting of innocent civilians in Gaza.
In response, the PFA praised Norway's principled stance, stating it reflects a broader global sentiment demanding justice and accountability for "Israel's" actions. The association stressed that FIFA and the international football community cannot remain silent while severe human rights abuses persist.
The PFA underscored the systematic targeting of Palestinian sports by Israeli forces, highlighting attacks on athletes and the destruction of vital sports infrastructure.
These actions, the PFA noted, constitute blatant violations of FIFA regulations and international humanitarian law, resulting in the deaths of countless individuals, including hundreds of athletes.
Additionally, the PFA accused the Israeli Football Association of enabling racism, weaponizing football to justify territorial annexation, and remaining complicit in the devastation in Gaza. Such practices, the PFA argued, undermine football's core principles of fairness, respect, and unity.
The PFA called on FIFA, UEFA, and national football associations worldwide to fulfill their ethical and legal responsibilities by suspending all sporting ties with "Israel" until it adheres to its international obligations.
It further urged FIFA to take immediate and transparent steps by launching a thorough investigation into "Israel's" conduct to ensure football remains a platform for peace and justice.
