PSG Women's Player Detained Over Attack on Teammate
French giant Paris Saint-Germain confirms that its women's team player Aminata Diallo was taken into custody following an attack on the club's players last week and announces it "has taken all necessary measures to guarantee its team's safety."
French international and Paris Saint-Germain woman footballer Aminata Diallo was detained by police on Wednesday in connection with a vicious street assault on a teammate and fellow national player last week in Paris, her club announced.
Diallo was returning from a dinner organized by PSG with fellow midfielder Kheira Hamraoui last Thursday when armed men attacked the pair in their car, hitting Hamraoui on the legs with an iron bar, L'Equipe newspaper reported.
As a result, Hamraoui was absent from the PSG team on Tuesday evening for a Champions League game against Real Madrid, with Diallo playing in her place.

"Paris Saint-Germain can confirm that Aminata Diallo was taken into custody this morning by the Versailles Regional Police Service as part of the proceedings opened following an attack on the Club's players last Thursday evening," PSG said in a statement.
The club added that following the incident, it "has taken all necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being, and safety of its entire women's team."
Diallo, 26, was held by the attackers during the assault but escaped uninjured, a source at the club told AFP.
The incident reminded observers of the famous 1994 assault on US figure skater Nancy Kerrigan who was hit on her legs by a man with a police baton, in a scheme planned by the ex-husband of her rival Tonya Harding.
Kerrigan was forced to miss the US Championships and secured Harding's spot in the US Olympics team, as a result.
Hamraoui, 31, returned to the PSG women's team in the summer after winning the Champions League last year with Barcelona.
She was recalled to the French national team in October after a two-and-a-half-year absence but pulled out because of injury.
Diallo was called up to replace her in the squad but did not play in any of the games.
