Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti criticized his players after the 0-0 draw with Villarreal, in the twenty-fourth stage of the Spanish Football League.

Ancelotti said in the post-match press conference that they are lacking in effectiveness to score goals, saying that in the first half, it seemed like his team was not in the game. He described the performance as sub-par, so Villarreal was in control.

Ancelotti said that the second half was better, the performance improved and the chances were more for his team.

Real Madrid managed to score only a goal in 3 matches, as before this match they beat Granada 1-0 in the La Liga [Spanish league], and before that, Real Madrid lost 0-1 to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Cup quarter-finals.

Despite the draw, Real Madrid remained at the top of the La Liga, but the difference became only 4 points, with the second Seville, who beat Elche CF 2-0. 

This tie comes before Real Madrid's match against Paris Saint-Germain, next Tuesday, in the first leg of the 16th round of the European Champions League.
