Skating council not to ban Russian, Belarusian delegates from congress
The International Skating Union Council announced that it will not prevent Russian and Belarusian delegates from participating in the ISU Congress in Phuket, the capital of Thailand.
The decision was the product of an ISU meeting before the 58th ISU Ordinary Congress, which will start on June 6.
The ISU Council was previously contemplating a decision regarding whether Russian and Belarusian delegations can vote in the congress, ahead of the event.
The document specifies the intention to single out 2 delegations from the congress, in addition to not admitting candidates from particular countries to participate in the ISU elections. Such actions, according to the document, carry legal risks, such as being sent to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Phuket-held event will speak of a number of issues regarding figure skating, including raising the minimum age of participation to 17 years, in addition to holding elections at the organization.
