Russia planning Sarmat ICBM tests throughout 2022
The Russian head of the Roscosmos said Russia will be testing the newest Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) throughout the year.
Russia will test the latest Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) until 2022, according to Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia's state-run space agency Roscosmos.
Rogozin told Rossiya 24 that "the tests will go on throughout this year, however, we are already planning to put the first produced missiles on full combat alert in late fall of this year."

Rogozin has stated that the Russian military will begin receiving Sarmat missiles following the successful conclusion of tests in the fall of 2022. He also stated that Roscosmos will build a total of 46 Sarmat missiles for the Russian army.
On April 20, the Russian military successfully conducted the first launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The system is designed to replace RS-20 Voevoda missile systems. The Ministry stated that Sarmat is capable of attacking targets at extended ranges utilizing a variety of flight paths and is guaranteed to defeat any present or future anti-missile systems.
