'France-Afrique': France's 'new colonial system' in Africa, says Amzat Boukari-Yabara

In an interview for Al Mayadeen's The Proximate Aspect, historian and African activist Amzat Boukari-Yabara argued how France still maintains control over much of West Africa through an intricate web of political, economic, and cultural dependency known as France-Afrique. Boukari-Yabara also denounced la Francophonie as a "colonial and cultural project" and "an economic and juridical project" masked as a linguistic alliance, saying it allows French law and influence to infiltrate African governance.
