10-year-old Lebanese girl: I played dead so the enemy wouldn’t strike the house again
On the night of July 17, in yet another blatant violation of the ceasefire with Lebanon, the Israeli occupation struck a family home in the town of Qabrikha, Southern Lebanon, killing a mother and father in front of their ten-year-old daughter. That same night, an audio recording of the girl circulated on social media, capturing her desperate plea: "My dad and mom are dying. Come and help me.” Al Mayadeen's correspondent, Fatima Ftouni, interviewed the young girl, who recounted last night's events while she was at home, playing like any other child on what was supposed to be a peaceful Thursday evening. What stands out in the interview is not just the girl's composure after such a traumatic experience, but something even more haunting: her admission that she pretended to be dead so the Israelis wouldn't strike the house again.
