Biden announces one-time $770 aid for California fire victims

US President Joe Biden announced during a briefing that tens of billions of dollars will be required to restore Los Angeles to its pre-wildfire state following the catastrophic fires in California. Biden pledged full federal support, committing to cover 100% of costs for firefighter overtime, debris removal, and temporary shelters over the next 180 days. He also urged Congress to allocate the necessary funding for recovery efforts. The wildfires, which began last Tuesday, have claimed at least 24 lives, destroyed over 12,300 structures, and left entire neighborhoods in ruins. However, officials warn that the return of high winds could jeopardize containment efforts.
