From search engine to war machine: Big Tech's new ventures
Big Tech once vowed to stay out of warfare, and now this promise is gone with the wind. American IT giants, led by Google’s parent company Alphabet, are striking deals with the US military, blurring the line between civilian innovation and military might. In an era where AI maps critical infrastructure and intercepts communications, tech is no longer neutral. But it doesn’t stop there. With Trump at the helm, these companies are now entangled in political agendas as well from renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America" for US users to preparing to change Mount Denali back to Mount McKinley. The question is no longer whether tech will be weaponized, but how far it will go.
