Yasemin Acar, a German activist currently on board the Madleen, spoke to Al Mayadeen about the international community's "double standards" and "selective empathy" regarding Palestinian rights, stating that governments and organizations "pick and choose" who deserves international law protections. Speaking as a German citizen, she criticized her country for making Palestinians "bear the mistakes committed by Germany and Europe" while criminalizing Palestinians in the diaspora "for daring to rise up for their people." The activist accused many organizations and governments of profiting from the genocide, preventing them from taking action to stop what she described as 20 months of "pure violence" and "pure inhumanity".
