Gaza solidarity encampment at Queen Mary University of London

Students at the Queen Mary University in London have set up an encampment in solidarity with Gaza, joining the divestment movement. The students sent a letter to the Senior Executive Team of Queen Mary University of London demanding divestment from companies that facilitate Israeli apartheid, occupation, and genocide in Gaza. The students also called for a full academic boycott of Israeli universities, urging QMUL to sever its recent partnerships with Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. They insisted on financial transparency, community oversight of investments, and ensuring that spin-off companies are not used for surveillance or military purposes. Additionally, they advocated for the protection of Palestinian identity and freedom of speech, and the establishment of a scholarship scheme for Palestinian students in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and refugee camps. Finally, they demanded an official statement condemning the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
