How does the electoral process work in Venezuela's presidential elections?
International observer Marwa Osman explains to Al Mayadeen English that Venezuela's presidential election process is being closely monitored by over 1,000 observers in Caracas. This year electoral process in Venezuela will employ a dual system that combines computerized voting with paper ballots to ensure transparency and accuracy. Voters will select their candidates on a machine, which then prints a paper receipt that is also placed in a ballot box, preventing claims of rigged elections. This system is designed to combat previous fraud allegations and ensure a fair democratic process. Although polling stations are set to close at 6 PM, they will remain open as long as voters are queuing, with final results expected by 10 AM the next day. Despite criticism, Venezuela's electoral process is supported by the Carter Center as one of the most successful electronic voting systems globally.
