Human Rights Watch report on Gaza: Fact-check reveals bias and injustice

On July 17, Human Rights Watch released a report that perpetuates a longstanding Western narrative, whitewashing Israeli atrocities in Gaza. The report even overlooked that these actions have been ongoing since 1948, raising questions about its commitment to human rights. Moreover, the report demanded that the Palestinian Resistance release all Israeli captives and provide them with essential needs but does not call on "Israel" to release Palestinian detainees, who are civilians protected under international law. Instead, it mildly urged "Israel" to refrain from torturing them. In its report, HRW seemed to align with Western narratives that discredit the Resistance in Gaza, portraying it as a malevolent force rather than a national liberation movement. This portrayal seeks to demonize the Resistance and justify extensive casualties—ranging from 38,000 to 186,000 Palestinians.
