In a recent interview for Al Mayadeen, Dr. Kamal Kharrazi, former Iranian Foreign Minister and head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, addressed Iran’s nuclear policy. Dr. Kharrazi stated that while the Iranian leader's religious decree is what prevents nuclear weapon development so far, this could change if Iran's survival is at stake. Kharrazi also noted that if Western European countries "do not respect our concerns, especially regarding Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity" as Iran considers theirs, then Iran "sees no reason to continue taking their concerns into consideration."
