Jeremy Corbyn presses UK Foreign Secretary on military support for 'Israel'
British MP Jeremy Corbyn pressed Foreign Secretary David Lammy for clarification on the UK's role in conducting surveillance flights over Gaza and the use of the Royal Air Force's Akrotiri base in Cyprus by "Israel" and on the effect the suspension of only some arms contracts will actually make on "Israel's" ability to continue the bombardment of Gaza. Lammy evaded providing specifics, seemingly attempting to sidestep responsibility for the UK's support of "Israel" by pointing out that the US and Germany are "much more engaged" in supplying arms to the Israeli occupation. The Foreign Secretary stated, "I am very comfortable with the support that we give to Israel, and I won't comment on operational issues," underscoring his unwavering stance on the UK's involvement.
