Lebanese welcome their 'Che Guevara': Georges Abdallah free after 41 years
After 41 years of imprisonment in French jails, remaining steadfast and never compromising his political stances, Lebanese revolutionary Georges Ibrahim Abdallah finally walked free on July 25. “We waited a lifetime for you,” one supporter said, while another hailed Abdallah as “Lebanon’s Che Guevara.” His freedom was met with powerful emotions, and joy tempered by the continued Israeli bombardment of several regions in Lebanon, particularly its South and Bekaa, and the painful absence of martyr Sayyed Hassan.
