President-elect Trump's policy toward Syria addressed by reporter Dan Boylan
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Dan Boylan, former general assignment reporter at The Washington Times, shed light on President-elect Donald Trump’s "transactional" power approach to US foreign policy, particularly in Syria. Boylan explained that Trump, as a former president, showed little interest in maintaining a significant US military presence in the region, including Syria. Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, Trump reaffirmed his stance through an all-caps tweet that the "United States does not want to get involved. This is not our issue," according to Boylan. He also emphasized that Trump’s perspective prioritizes immediate gains over traditional alliances, which could leave groups like the Kurds marginalized unless they find ways to align with Trump’s mindset. Furthermore, Boylan noted that Trump plans on reshaping the Middle East through powerful regional players, including Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and "Israel".
