Protesters slam Israeli team’s participation at La Vuelta
Dozens of pro-Palestine protesters demonstrated on Saturday, September 13, against the participation of the Israeli-sponsored team Israel-Premiere Tech in stage 20 of La Vuelta in Robledo de Chavela, Madrid. Authorities tightened security throughout the race, with riot police preventing protesters from entering the road, as one protester denounced it as "unacceptable for a team representing a genocidal state" to compete in a sporting event. Earlier, protests have cut short the race at multiple stages of La Vuelta, including stage 11 in Bilbao, which was stopped with 3km to go, and stage 16, where the finish line was moved mid-race. During the Valladolid stage on September 11, organizers shortened the route to 12.2km from 27.2km.
