The harrowing reality of mothers in Gaza on Mother's Day
Mothers in Gaza carry their children twice. Once for 9 months in their wombs, and another on their deathbed. On Mother's Day, while the world celebrates the boundless love and sacrifices of mothers, the mothers in Gaza mourn the loss of their children, torn away by the merciless onslaught of "Israel's" genocidal war on Gaza. Their grief is immeasurable as they bury their young loved ones that is if they manage to pull them from under the rubble. Meanwhile, children in Gaza weep for their mothers, taken too soon by the same Israeli violence that took away their safe haven. Amid this sorrow, pregnant women endure the agony of childbirth without anesthesia. Famine and dehydration have plagued the Gaza Strip, mercilessly claiming lives and leaving pregnant mothers and their unborn children teetering on the brink of survival. The inability to provide proper nourishment further compounds the anguish of new mothers, unable to breastfeed their babies due to their frail state.
