President Donald Trump's suggestion to displace millions of Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt reveals a lack of understanding of history and current geopolitics, according to Justin Thomas Russell, Principal Director at the New York Center for Foreign Policy Affairs. In an interview for Al Mayadeen, he cautioned that key US allies like Jordan are at a "boiling point," and that this rhetoric could further strain ties with Egypt and other regional US partners. Russell also highlighted the risks of Trump's "mob boss tactics of pushing and threatening publicly our friends into compliance," which could drive allies toward alternative partners like China and Russia, jeopardizing US influence in the region.
