Trump’s new Gaza plan: Forcibly expelling Palestinians to Sudan, Somalia, Somaliland
After failing to push Egypt and Jordan to accept forcibly displaced Palestinians from Gaza, US President Donald Trump is now seeking other African countries, namely Sudan, Somalia, and Somaliland. An AP report revealed that Sudan was approached even before Trump’s inauguration with incentives, including military aid and postwar reconstruction assistance, but officials immediately rejected the idea. Meanwhile, the US reportedly held quiet discussions with Somaliland "in exchange for diplomatic recognition." Yet, Somaliland Foreign Minister dismissed such reports. Somali officials have denied receiving any such proposal. Its Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi affirmed that the country would categorically reject "any proposal or initiative, from any party, that would undermine the Palestinian people’s right to live peacefully on their ancestral land."
