Trump wants the US to 'take, make Gaza a freedom zone'

US President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his desire to "take over" Gaza, only this time he pitched his vision of "the United States having it, taking it, making it a freedom zone" at a business roundtable in Qatar. While describing the catastrophe in Gaza, he said, "There are practically no buildings standing... people are living under the rubble," calling the situation "unacceptable," yet notably, he made no mention of "Israel's" responsibility for creating that reality. Instead, he framed the destruction as a void the US should fill, sidestepping the cause of the devastation and suffering and offering American control as the supposed solution.
