UNICEF spokesperson addresses 'Israel's' cancelation of relations with UNRWA
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, UNICEF spokesperson Kazem Abu-Khalaf said that UNRWA’s role as the primary humanitarian backbone in Gaza is irreplaceable. Abu-Khalaf stressed that with around 13,000 employees and a network of resources, UNRWA supports nearly a million people in Gaza with healthcare, education, and food. He warned that its sudden halt would severely disrupt humanitarian operations across agencies, including UNICEF and WHO, and escalate the suffering of the people of Gaza, especially children relying on routine vaccinations and schooling. In short, the absence of an alternative to UNRWA’s services, as Abu-Khalaf emphasized, threatens the stability of Gaza’s entire humanitarian infrastructure.
