US aid pier in Gaza: To bring aid in… or not to
Repeatedly dismantled and reinstalled due to alleged “high sea states” and “forecasted high winds,” the US aid pier in Gaza has yet to fulfill its alleged humanitarian purpose. Despite the so-called efforts and announcements by Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, this initiative to ease the Israeli-imposed starvation and blockade on the people of Gaza remains mired in red flags. Instead of providing relief to millions of Palestinians in Gaza, the pier has highlighted the stark realities of humanitarian missions tangled in geopolitical interests and alliances. Case in point: When the pier was reportedly used in the Israeli occupation forces captives extraction operation in Nuseirat, resulting in a massacre back on June 8.
