US prioritizes military aid over prison reform: a deadly oversight
US prisons are plagued by underfunding, overcrowding, and neglect, leading to tragic, easily preventable deaths. In this video, we explore recent events highlighting these dire conditions, including the death of a woman at Central California Women’s Facility during a heatwave due to a lack of air conditioning and basic necessities. We also discuss the Hennepin County Jail, where 15 inmates have died since 2015, the latest being Lucas Bellamy, who was denied medical treatment despite his desperate pleas. These cases are symptomatic of a broader issue: the US prioritizes billions in military aid to "Israel" and Ukraine over reforming its own prison facilities and addressing critical domestic issues like homelessness. Since October last year, the US has provided $6.5 billion in military aid to "Israel" and $61 billion to Ukraine and other regional allies, highlighting a stark misallocation of resources.
