Lebanon’s newly elected President Joseph Aoun, is set to begin his presidency with the crucial task of conducting mandatory parliamentary consultations to appoint a prime minister-designate, who will then form the new Lebanese government. Aoun’s leadership will be tested as Lebanon faces ongoing Israeli aggression on South Lebanon, the Syrian refugee crisis, and the task of demarcating Lebanon's borders. With substantial economic and diplomatic hurdles ahead, Aoun’s presidency pledged to usher in a new chapter in Lebanon's history, but his ability to navigate these challenges will depend on cooperation with the newly appointed government.
