Who is Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's acting president?
Mohammad Mokhber has assumed the role of Iran's interim president following the confirmation of the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian, and other officials in a helicopter crash. His role as acting president was approved by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who said in a statement, "... Mokhber will manage the executive branch and is obliged to arrange with the heads of the legislative and judicial branches to elect a new president within a maximum of 50 days." Interim President Mokhber, in turn, vowed to uphold former President Raisi's political path during an emergency meeting with the heads of the judiciary and legislative authorities.
