IRGC points to CIA, KSA, UK joint espionage for inciting riots in Iran
The statement pointed fingers at the CIA as it "played the main role” while being buddy-buddy with the espionage services of the UK, "Israel" and KSA.
In a joint statement, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) took a jab at the role of foreign spy agencies, especially the CIA, in puppetteering the riots in Iran in the past weeks.
In the statement issued on Friday, “numerous examples and undeniable references of the all-out role of the American terrorist regime in designing, implementing, and maintaining” the riots were exposed as part of “continuous and precise” intelligence monitoring in the past year, supported by documents.
The statement pointed fingers at the CIA as it "played the main role” while being buddy-buddy with the espionage services of the UK, "Israel" and Saudi Arabia.
The statement described the “pre-planned” project by the US intended to exploit the death of Mahsa Amini for political interests, adding that the US has a history of turning a blind eye to crimes such as the Saudi-backed killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the deliberate murder of journalist Shireen Abu Akeleh by the Israeli regime.
“Intelligence evidence shows that the CIA had devised an extensive plan with the cooperation of allied spy services and reactionary proxies before the start of the unrest to initiate a nationwide chaos with the aim of committing crimes against the great Iranian nation and the country’s territorial integrity as well as paving the ground for increasing foreign pressures,” it added.
In September, the IRGC stated that "What is happening is a conspiracy and an absurd attempt that is doomed to failure... the enemies are taking advantage of every opportunity to achieve their goals against Iran." The IRGC indicated that "this conspiracy comes after collecting, unifying, organizing and training all the failed and scattered capabilities."
The statement identified tactics of the agencies in preparing for the breakout of the violent riots, beginning with human-rights-targeted conferences and taking advantage of every incident to imply the incapability of the Iranian government.
Camps were set up in various countries to train members on hybrid and soft war, per the statement, with a shocking revelation that those who had published the first pictures of Amini at the hospital received special training in those courses specifically. In addition, a “global media war” against Iran was in the works by provocation through TV channels and social media, with the statement noting that platforms Twitter and Instagram neglected their own regulations to exacerbate the dissemination of “fake news.”
Twitter permitted 50,000 new fake accounts targeted at Persian language users between September 11 to October 12 as it additionally rid of restrictions such as the time limits between posts.
In spite of all these efforts combined, concluded the statement, the West “failed to attain none of their pre-planned goals,” as the “project of destroying Iran has faced a humiliating defeat.”
