Who is sponsoring Israeli massacres in Gaza?

The only path to ending a vicious cycle of apartheid and bloodshed against Palestinians is to guarantee Palestinian freedoms and justice on their own terms, period

  • x

As Israeli occupation forces step up massacres in Gaza and leverage U.S. weapons to advance their genocide, Washington is busy selling falsehoods to the world. Brazen support for Israel’s genocide is increasingly powered by an endless pool of U.S. propaganda on occupation self-defense, meriting a categorical rebuttal.

Nowhere is this more apparent than at present. The United States recently proposed a draft UN Security Council resolution to sidestep Palestine, lobbying to legitimize the Israeli blatant war crimes under the garb of self-defense. Those ambitions have hit a brick wall, and arrive at a time when the White House pursues some $10.6 billion in funding to fuel the Israeli genocide. All this reveals the extent of U.S. sponsorship and its criminal indifference toward ending bloodshed in Gaza.

First, pumping billions into the arms of the occupation will only empower Palestine’s resistance to lead a powerful and legitimate response for unaccounted Palestinian blood. The pursuit for unwarranted Pentagon funding is clear proof that the United States wants to counter calls for an immediate end to occupation brutalities. It already discouraged its diplomats from calling for ceasefire or de-escalation in the war.

The most visible example of glaring U.S. warmongering is its decision to veto a UN Security Council resolution on a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip. Entire families have been wiped out, and at least 4,650 Palestinians in Gaza breathed their last. The more that the U.S. glorifies occupation massacres against besieged Palestinians, the stronger the resistance’s legitimate response to Israeli aggression and brutality.

It is a fact that the internal front of the Israeli occupation entity is in shambles. The Palestinian resistance, through its ongoing operation, has raised the likelihood of the occupation army relinquishing its grip over thousands of illegal settlements on the Southern front. That weakness is one of many strategic low points that have unsettled the Israeli security establishment and prompted regional fighters to pursue retaliatory strikes against the Israelis' illegal killings of scores of journalists.

Washington is in no position to sell the toxic fiction that it is pursuing humanitarian aid options for Gaza. In reality, it is lending a shoulder to the Israeli occupation to prepare for an unwarranted ground offensive, bearing all the costs of such state-sponsored terror. Given the Palestinian resistance’s track record of foiling blatant adventurism in recent memory, Washington risks preparing the ground for its own military undoing by contributing to an ongoing massacre against Palestinians.

The sacred land of the Palestinians is no theater for indiscriminate airstrikes and bloodshed. A resistance consolidated in the face of Israeli belligerence shall defend Palestine’s right to prevail and triumph through thick and thin. Any attempt to expand the occupation footprint will not only backfire with twice the force. Rather, it confirms that Washington is the chief obstacle to Palestinians’ inalienable right to return to “their homes and property from which they have been displaced and uprooted,” as per UN resolution 3236.

Make no mistake. The only path to ending a vicious cycle of apartheid and bloodshed against Palestinians is to guarantee Palestinian freedoms and justice on their own terms, period. The decades-old resistance is a classic example of that pursuit. Washington’s refusal to even account for such a de-escalation prospect is clear in its blatant lobbying for billions in pro-occupation support. Moreover, Washington identifies as deeply complicit by committing U.S. forces in support of Israel’s planned ground adventurism. “The United States has conveyed to Israel its intention to deploy additional American forces to the Middle East, in readiness for a ground operation due to concerns over the escalating ... attacks against its forces in the region,” said the Israeli army radio recently.

Palestinian lives are no collateral, and U.S. sponsorship of a ground invasion will be answered in full. Early signs entail the coming together of distinct resistance forces against Israel in key parts of the region. That includes a Lebanese resistance that is leading from the front. Fighters continue to expose tactical weaknesses among occupation forces at the Palestinian-Lebanese border area and play a vital role in disrupting the Israeli security establishment’s Gaza invasion scheme. Scores of U.S. lawmakers continue to cheer destructive rhetoric against besieged Palestinians, removing all doubt about Washington’s desire to turn the current wave of occupation belligerence into a  multi-front regional conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu can posture all he wants but hollow threats of conflict against the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance will never hold up. It is that same occupation status quo that has led to perpetual Palestinian suffering for decades, culminating in a tipping point today where state-sponsored terrorism is as clear as day. In an act of cowardice that contradicts U.S. claims to stability in the region, Israel touted falsehoods about striking the resistance with such  “strength that it cannot even imagine.”

Major chapters from history, such as Israel’s damning defeat in the 2006 war, drive such occupation posturing to the ground. Above all, the genocide is a wake-up call for all those cheering Israeli escalations in Gaza, blinded by the consequences that follow.
