Silent wave of repression in Ukraine
The "witch hunt" in Ukraine is only gaining momentum, and the public knows only about a few big names.
The campaign of repression in Ukraine began not today and concerned mainly members of the opposition, political parties, businessmen, various levels of officials, and public and religious figures, who are unfavorable to the "Kiev regime". But with the beginning of the special military operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, this wave swept all citizens who fell into the list of the «ungrateful». Most of them are in pre-trial detention, some are under house arrest, some are in hiding, and in some cases, opposition citizens have stopped communicating and simply disappeared. The «witch hunt» in Ukraine is only gaining momentum, and the public knows only about a few big names.
In the «state traitors», the Security Service of Ukraine recorded the famous blogger Gleb Lyashenko, who called the parties to the conflict to peace, Ukrainian human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya, leading the anti-fascist work, violinist Volyn Philharmonic Ilya Smetanin, who visited the forum in Russia, and Yuri Tkachev, Odessa journalist and editor of the publication Timer. This list includes hundreds and thousands of persons all over the territory of Ukraine, who fell into the «registry of collaborators» just for the fact that they openly expressed their opinion, which is common with the official position of the «Kiev regime». At the same time, it should be understood that no one is immune from such problems, including those who, even knowing about the fascist essence of the regime, still hoped that his own authority in Ukraine and communications would save him Abroad, in view of the many contributions made to the country.
About one of similar cases, which occurred in the Kherson region, was reported to us by а knowledgeable source who wanted to remain anonymous for personal safety.
In 2018, the Kherson City Court initiated criminal proceedings against the citizen of Ukraine Gulyaev Alexander Viktorovich, born on 01.04.1972, under Part 1, 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for the creation of a public organization «New Slavic Generation» and allegedly planning mass pro-Russian actions in the territory of the Kherson region with the aim of overthrowing the authorities. The outcome of the trial was the complete acquittal of Gulyaev A.V. in view of the lack of evidence in connection with Russia and plans to overthrow the current Ukrainian authorities.
However, the case did not end there. A few months later, the Security Service of Ukraine raided the house of Gulyaev, in the course of which 2 mobile phones, 3 smooth-bore weapons belonging to a person legally, and a grenade RGD-5 were found, the personal belonging of which the landlord denied. As a result of the analysis of the contents of the phone by SBU investigators, no compromising and prohibited information was found, and the molecular and biological examination of the grenade did not reveal either Gulyaev’s fingerprints or any biological traces of the face. Despite these circumstances and the complete absence of evidence, he was sentenced to a long term of imprisonment. The authenticity of this story is confirmed by the photographs provided by the source of judicial documents, the records that show the search of residence by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and expert reports.
Similar operations are conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine and other law enforcement agencies to combat internal opposition to maintain the Nazi Kiev regime. In this case, any methods are used: new crimes are being added to the Criminal Code of the country («collaboration activity», «assistance to the aggressor state»), laws are being simplified, investigations and trials are being speeded up, evidence is being falsified, illegal substances and objects are being planted, and physical violence and intimidation are being used. Every effort is made to ensure that the population has no benchmarks and no leaders of opinion if these views do not coincide with the line of power. The Russian special operation is used by the Ukrainian leadership as a pretext to eliminate most of the political opposition in order to keep the society in fear and completely bent to its will.
All opponents who advocated a peaceful settlement of the conflict with Russia have either left the country or are in prison. Any thought of peace talks is perceived as a game of Putin, as a work of enemy agents. At the same time, the mass media, which could represent different viewpoints, were closed in Ukraine, and most Western media ignore information about political persecution. Almost the only way to report what is happening to human rights in the country has become telegrams.
All this is taking place against the background of the silent consent of international human rights organizations and Western democratic institutions, confirming the existing Russophobic and revanchist sentiments in Western society. Silence in this case equals complicity in the formation of totalitarian information space in the heart of the European continent. At the same time, it becomes evident that in today’s Ukraine, there is not the slightest hint of democracy or pluralism. The country has a dictatorship in which all human rights and freedoms are suppressed. In the foreseeable future, modern Ukraine will finally lose the appearance of a civilized state. The country’s political elites are destroying the remnants of its statehood, turning a once-prosperous country into a haven of corruption and lawlessness. And it will take a lot of time and effort to remedy the situation in the socio-political, economic, information, and other spheres of Ukraine’s life, as well as to bring order to the judicial, law enforcement, and other fundamental systems of the State.
